Two years after the blue-and-white Jaipur institution Bar Palladio opened a Rajasthani-red haveli offshoot just outside the city, a palace revival is poised to dominate 2024.

Raffles Jaipur

Location: On the quieter outskirts of Jaipur, India’s Pink City.

Opening: Spring 2024

The facts: Old world Rajasthani craftsmanship meets the palatial high life. Modeled after the opulent Zenana, or women’s quarters, of the Mughal court, the property features exquisitely designed courtyards and 50 elegant suites (each with their own private pool).

Only-in factor: Located away from the hustle and bustle of the walled old town, the hotel’s location makes it easy to explore the nearby Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort and Jal Mahal Palace. (Check out PRIOR’s guide to Jaipur’s best antiques, textiles and jewelry shops here.)

Italy

In the past two years, Rome has seen hotel openings, some bella and others a bit brutto, by Bulgari, Soho House, Six Senses, Edition, Nobu and more. This year, the Auberge Resorts Collection will make its Florence debut with Collegio alla Querce, while the Belmond opens another emblematic establishment, Romazzino, A Belmond Hotel, Costa Smeralda, in Sardinia (a destination in need of renewal). In Rome, we’re looking forward to the new Residence Club from the much-admired JK Place Roma. But it's other spots showcasing Italian hospitality on smaller scale — one in the Eternal City, the other in the wild dunes of the Sardinian coast — that have piqured our interest.
