Stockholm’s Suiting Up

Stockholm Stadshotell — Stockholm, Sweden

Opened January 2025

Let’s hear it for the Swedish capital’s first landmark hotel opening in years. Located in Södermalm, a creative neighborhood known for its boutiques and art galleries, the just opened Stockholm Stadshotell is housed within a regal landmark — a 19th century building erected in memory of King Oscar I. Today, its 32 rooms and suites reflect the merging of this past and present, through Arts and Crafts inspired furniture and interiors matched with sleek, modern Nordic design. Think geometric burlwood headboards, black velvet chairs, and crisp white walls — with rotating photo exhibitions by photographers like the famed Swedish talent Gunnar Smoliansky. The building’s former chapel serves fine dining, while casual bites can be found at the bistro. For wellness lovers with a penchant for contrast bathing, the spa will include both a sauna and a cold plunge.

Oberoi Rajgarh Palace — Khajuraho Chandranagar, India

A New Maharaja for Madhya Pradesh

Oberoi Rajgarh Palace — Khajuraho Chandranagar, India

Opening Summer 2025

A new luxury player in this part of India is a well-positioned development. As of now, there’s not much in terms of luxury stays when it comes to Madhya Pradesh, known as “the heart of India” due to its central location and famous for its 1,500-year-old UNESCO Heritage temples of Khajuraho, ancient forts, and wildlife sanctuaries (tigers!). Located atop the Maniyagarh hills, the Oberoi Rajgarh Palace will be a tribute to the region’s regal history, housed within a 350 year old palace that once hosted maharajas and nobles. This will be the Oberoi’s 33rd property, building on their near hundred year sweeping legacy of splashy, statement hotels. This new property will look over 70 acres of lush greenery and a rain-fed lake, offering gardens, lakeside dining, and a boat-accessible spa. Guests can expect 66 rooms blending Bundelkhand heritage with British colonial design, and a prime location for sightseeing — the Oberoi Rajgarh Palace will be just a short drive away from those temples of Khajuraho.
