Milan Behind Closed Doors with Martina Mondadori and David Prior

3 Nights
Trip Description
Join PRIOR and Cabana Magazine in Milan and experience the capital of design like you’ve never seen before, accessing private spaces and experiencing exclusive visits to world-renowned sites.
"Milan is a city of contrasts, conjuring both the old and new world in equal measure. It needs to be uncovered and discovered... It's not the glossy guidebooks or main attractions, impressive as they are. It's behind doors and round corners, downstairs and through courtyards. It's the private spaces and word-of-mouth recommendations that take you to the heart of the city." - Martina Mondadori, Editor-in-Chief of Cabana.
Our 3-night stay begins as Milan awakens from its foggy winter and opens to the full bloom of spring bursting in every courtyard and green corner of the city. With the warmth of May’s sunshine, we’ll wind our way through Milan’s historic center, visiting private homes from the pages of Cabana Magazine; ateliers and artist studios along with exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to world-renowned works of art and institutions like Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper and La Scala Opera Theatre’s workshops.
Staying in the heart of Le 5 Vie district - Milan’s most historic neighborhood whose origins date back to the Roman Empire - situates us within walking distance from all daily activities.
Experience Milan’s food scene - a melting pot of historic restaurants and cafes, modern interpretations of Italian and global cuisine and perfect pasticcerie. If ever there was a place to see the softer side of Milan, it’s in its timeless pastry shops, where cakes, jammy tarts, tiny pasticcini, and chocolates are bought for family gatherings and holidays. They punctuate neighborhoods around the city, and just like everything in Milan, are perfectly designed.
Renzo Mongiardino, the celebrated Italian architect, set designer, and interior decorator, and twice Oscar-nominated scenographer, ties our journey together. “The Master of Illusions,” in the words of Martina Mondadori, he is the visionary behind Casa Cabana, our home for the first evening; the creative mind responsible for Da Giacomo’s interiors, Milan’s chicest restaurant and our host for dinner the second evening; and the mastermind behind many more private homes, ateliers and spaces that we’ll discover together along the way.

Up Close with The Last Supper
Up Close with The Last Supper
Painted by Leonardo da Vinci between 1495 and 1498 in the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Leonardo’s Last Supper is one of Milan’s most visited sites. During the trip, we’ll have the chance to visit the monumental fresco exclusively and privately, allowing guests to admire one of the world's most celebrated works of art in complete intimacy.
Casa Cabana with Martina Mondadori
Casa Cabana with Martina Mondadori
Designed by Renzo Mongiardino, Martina Mondadori’s childhood remains the beating heart of Cabana Magazine and is in many ways its earliest, and more enduring, inspiration. The storied apartment achieves a harmonious balance between grandeur and coziness. Martina will welcome guests into Cabana’s home for a dinner within the walls that inspired her most.
Perfect Pastries & Ateliers
Perfect Pastries & Ateliers
Milan’s design doesn’t stop at the interiors and exteriors of private homes and palazzi, it is deeply rooted in every detail of the city, from the one-of-a-kind cinematic interiors of an atelier to the perfect ratio of custard-cream to flakey dough of a pastry from an iconic pasticceria.
Behind Closed Doors
Behind Closed Doors
Private visits to a curated selection of Milan’s most beautiful private family homes, straight from the pages of Cabana Magazine. Discover the home of Umberto Pasti, author and horticulturist with a museum-worthy collection of objects, textiles and art.
Casa Brivio
Casa Brivio
Cousins Filippo and Alberico Brivio Sforza recently decided to turn their family’s palazzo into a project that reflects a vision of hospitality Milan was very much in need of. Their “non-hotel hotel” allows guests to experience an authentic Milanese stay, which feels far more like a home than any hotel.
