TRIP DESCRIPTION

Namibia’s otherworldly drylands are a desert experience unlike any other: the deafening silence amid the sand dunes might occasionally be punctuated by the footsteps of a dusty elephant; the wild Skeleton Coast is named after the bleached-out skeletons of shipwrecks, whales, and seals; and the nomadic people who have been living in the desert for millennia have learned to thrive in the harsh conditions. This 12-night private fly-around safari is a photography-focused trip that explores all these corners. It’s led by seasoned Namibian guide and passionate photographer who uses his decades of experience to help guests interpret the people, wildlife and landscapes of his home country while capturing it all on camera.

Six singular lodges take guests to distinct ecosystems: they include a big game safari in Etosha National Park, an experience with a nomadic group in Hoanib Skeleton Coast, and a sunrise dune hike in the Sossusvlei clay pan.

Trip highlights

Sand Dune Sunrise

Hike to the top of a towering sand dune to catch the first rays of light in the Sossusvlei clay pan, which is part of the sprawling Namib Desert.

Himba Experience

An unforgettable shared moment with the semi-nomadic and pastoral Himba people will offer insight into what it’s like to live an ancient way of life in such unforgiving conditions.

Night Sky Safari

The Namib Desert is one of Earth's Dark Sky Reserves, and the only one in Africa. Gaze into the night sky with resident astrologists and learn about the world beyond—and learn to capture it with your camera.

Quad Bike Adventure

There’s nothing quite like the exhilarating rush of charging around the undulating sand dunes of the Skeleton Coast on a quad bike—one of the best ways to get deeper into the more remote parts of the landscape.

Elephants of Etosha

A big game safari in Etosha National Park, which is home to a salt pan so massive it can be seen from space, will reward you with sightings of lions, leopards, black and white rhino, giraffe, and elephant herds.

Hot-Air Balloon Sunrise

Get a bird’s-eye view of the landscapes you’ve been exploring close up with a hot air balloon over the sprawling Namib Desert, followed by a champagne brunch.
