Milan is Italy’s engine of fashion and design, a place best understood through the people behind its institutions and the places where ideas take form. This journey offers a close look at the city and its creative orbit via direct access and firsthand encounters.
Traveling alongside designer and creative director Jenna Lyons, the itinerary begins with a private after-hours visit to Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper.” Later, outside the city, a historic silk manufacturer opens its archives and workshops, tracing the process from design and dyeing to the creation of patterns that have informed generations of Italian style.
Back in Milan, guests spend time with designers Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci of Dimorestudio, sharing intimate meals in their private homes and gaining insight into their approaches to design and living. The following day, guests embark on a private visit to the Ansaldo Scala workshops, where the technical and artistic skill behind the historic Italian opera house comes into focus, from stage sets to costume production. A walking tour led by local architects helps place Milan’s architectural legacy in the context of contemporary design. The journey comes to a close with a game of bocce and a celebratory dinner at an osteria founded in the early 1900s.
